The Preamble to the Constitution of UNESCO declares that "since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed".

In 60 countries in the world, New Acropolis is building defences of peace, one human being at a time, with a philosophical education that connects the Head, the Heart and the Hands.

“Become” Who “You” Are

We all have many roles, feelings, relationships, ideas, things to do….

Yet…Are we all these things?

Is there a lasting identity beyond these many changing facets of our life, beyond the masks worn out of pressure, habit, fear or ignorance? How can we recognize it in such a loud life and world?

Ancient philosophers used to say that the true homeland of men and women is Beauty, Justice, Goodness and Truth. There is their lasting and stable identity to be found.

It is OUR responsibility and true vocation to become fully what and who WE are…

When our human vocation awakens, we feel thirsty for unity between our external life and that which truly is - that is, the being. This alignment between our innermost aspirations and life decisions brings a sense of meaning and fulfillment.

This is the model of perfection offered by nature, which is at the same time essence and visible harmony. If we follow its example, nature becomes our master of wisdom enabling us to progress in virtue, hence to progress towards our mystery.

In this seminar, we will explore simple ideas and practical formulas from several Greek and Indian sources of wisdom, including Plato, Socrates, Zeno, Buddhism and the Bhagavad Gita:

- What is the human being?
- How can we recognize and find ourselves in the midst of emotions, thoughts, and external influences?
- “Becoming who we are” - from bondage to freedom
- How can we become ourselves in a superficial culture?
- Practical tips for everyday

“Learn what you are and be such.” – Pindar
